M1 iPad Pro iFixit Theerdown reveals XDR Show Mini LED inside

Confirmation of the months of rumors and speculation, Apple finally launched a new iPad Pro with two rather important changes. Its passage to an Apple M1 chip further combines the boundaries between iPad Pro and MacBooks, but it’s really the switch to a mini LED screen that has people who speak. This is not all in a way, however, as some do not seem to be convinced of the final results of the most expensive technology. On a purely technical aspect, however, the initial assessment of the ifixit tear of the 12.9 inch M1 iPad Pro is at least more interesting.

With regard to the backlight, the mini LED display that reports to the marketing name “XDR Display” is very important. It always uses LCDs on top so that there are always missing benefits that OLED technology. That said, compared to the backlighting that Apple used on ipads before, the Mini LED screen is a huge upgrade.

IFixit gives a recycling course on technology and, in a word, the panel now uses thousands of mini-LEDs of this type behind the screen to provide lighting. More than just intensive brightness, however, it also means that each of these mini-LED can be controlled individually to synchronize with what is displayed on the screen on the screen.

Although technology can be cool, the tear process has no other modification. Technicians and service providers still need to use heat, coaxization and patience to get out of the screen, which also remains a risky process. This process, unfortunately, is the first step necessary to repair or replace anything inside.

Ifixit also notes that very few components have changed inside the M1 iPad Pro, at least apart from the expected 5G antenna, of the M1 chip and the new wide-angle front camera. DIY repair experts still have to publish their complete guide and assessment of demolition, but at least from these first comments, it will not be so impressive.
