Most workers want to make illegal forcing employees to enter the office

The vast majority of workers are in favor of changes to the legislation that would unlawful to companies to force employees to work with the Bureau, according to new research.

Following the recent lockdowns, an OKTA identity firm survey found that workers want more freedom to choose how and where they work – with increasingly popular hybrid work solutions. However, the study of more than 10,000 offices, including 2,000 of the United Kingdom, revealed that many employers will feel employers who will be reluctant to offer more flexibility.

Some 79% of those surveyed for research would like legislation to have changed so that it becomes illegal to force employees to work with the Bureau. However, 48% want exceptions, including for emergency workers. Meanwhile, 31% think it should be against the law, no matter what occupation is.

The British government is currently reviewing the landscape of post-lock-announcements and discussions on the best way to implement any new legislation. This could include the “right to disconnect”, which would allow workers to have more to say in all decisions regarding the work of the house or locations other than the office.

Flexible work

“Many British spent more than a year after the rules and work from home,” says Samantha Fisher, Okta’s dynamic work. “In the future, it is clear that they want freedom to work in their own words, that it comes back to the office, working remotely, or a mixture of both.

A modification of the legislation would put the choice in the hands of employees and give organizations the opportunity to undertake evaluations, re-evaluate processes and allow better methods that support the use of the multi-location strategy. “

All workers are not able to entertain the concept of more flexible work, with 36% of respondents revealing that they want to stay in the office or simply can not do their job from nowhere else. Okta conducted a similar survey in May 2020, then only 24% of workers said they wanted to return to the full-time office.

British workers are certainly more favored than their European counterparts. In the United Kingdom, 19% hope to work permanently at home, which is higher than the Netherlands (12%), Switzerland (14%) and France (15%). A significant number of 43% of the British also prefer a hybrid approach to work, with a desktop mix and homes.
