Spatial audio guide and without Apple’s loss of music: here’s how to transform them

In WWDC 2021, Apple flew the audio switch without loss and spatial in Apple music: two “new” formats that will radically change how your favorite songs sounds.

Of course, it is not exactly new: without losses, since the description of the audio codecs has existed from the shift of the 21st century, while space audio has been developing in a few different incarnations during the last years.

That said, Apple’s music makes it easier than ever to listen to music in these formats, to which many people are rightly excited.

So, how does audio light without loss and spatial, and what devices do you need to play them correctly? We have gathered a quick guide to start.

Step 1. Download iOS 14.6 or iPados 14.6

This step is absolutely crucial as, without it, your device will not recognize the new format regardless of what else. However, the update must automatically deploy IOS devices as of June 8, however, you may have to enter and manually update your device if you have not seen it yet.

To do so, go to the configuration of your device and select General> Software Update> Review the update. Hopefully, that should make it appear. If not, wait a few hours and try again.

Step 2. Get a subscription to Apple’s music.

Unfortunately, Apple will not automatically convert all songs that you have stored on your phone with new audio formats without loss and spatial, even if you used Apple Music song matching function in the past or has downloaded songs from Apple Music currently.

That said, Apple is offering a free three-month trial version of Apple music for new subscribers to the individual, perfect plans if you only want to be discouraged in the new formats. You will not be charged until the plan is renewed and you can cancel up to two days before your test is ending without any penalty.

Step 3. Establish Dolby Atmos on OR Automatic

Backing the spatial audio is super easy, so let’s start there.

To enable spatial audio, go to your configuration again and look for the music header. Take, and you should see an option for Dolby Atmos. Touch and select Automatic (which must be enabled by default) or always, if you want to listen to space audio all the time.

You will know that it is working if you return to Apple’s music and you see the Dolby Atmos logo on the playback / pause icon on the playback screen now.

Step 4. Turn on the audio without loss in the configuration

Turn on no loss audio requires one more step, but honestly, it is not much harder: Return to configuration> Music> Audio quality and convert audio without loss.

Then, you will have some options as to when you want your phone to transmit audio without loss, either when you are connected through cellular data, Wi-Fi or when you download a song. You can enable or disable all three or any one individually, which is excellent, has a data cap or limited storage.

To verify that it is working, return to Apple’s music and you must see some albums now have an audio symbol without losses in your description. If a song is playing in audio without loss, you should see the icon on the playback / pause icon on the playback screen now.
