You may need to give up dreams of driving the model S Plaid + Sedan from the Tesla Supercar. ELON MUSK told Twitter followers that the Plaid + trim is “canceled” because the “regular” impending and lower tile model is “just so good”. It’s the fastest production car ever, he said.
We asked Tesla to comment. The Plaid + Garny remains listed in the constructor configurator tool from this writing, although it is grayed (as has been for a while) and is not available for pre-commands.
There is a chance that it can be a joke, although dry is not satisfied if it was the case. It would not be a totally unexpected gesture, however. Plaid + was supposed to be faster, but the difference was not guaranteed to be huge. You would buy it for the added range (more than 520 miles versus 390) more than anything, and Tesla might simply roll all the upgrades of the battery in future models.
There is also the question of the overlapping of the product. The Next-Gen Roadster was supposed to be the uncompromising performance of Tesla EV until the Model S Plaid + showed – the four-door soup blur the lines and challenged the reason for the existence of the roadster. This could sculpt space for the Roadster, making it the obvious choice if you want the faster vehicle, Tesla has to offer.
