Turkish Airlines Cancellation Policy

Coronavirus is the new talk of the planet and after the global alert imposed by WHO (World Health Organisation), many passengers are dropping off their trips and other travel-related work. The government of every country is trying to manage the spread of the global virus that is swallowing lives like water. Many airlines have stopped the commute to maximum Asian countries as the number of infected is increasing at a titanic speed. I made Turkish Airlines reservation to fly to Hong Kong for a vacation but after hearing the news of the virus I decided to cancel it. Just like many other airlines, Turkish Airlines is also providing a full refund on canceling the ticket to mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea and many more. As I have never canceled a reservation before I was not aware of the process and the Turkish Airlines Cancellation Policy

Conditions of Turkish Airlines Cancellation Policy:

  • There is no facility of the refund on canceling Turkish Airlines reservations initiated by the passengers.
  • If the passenger is canceling the Turkish Airlines between 1 to 12 hours then approx 40% of the ticket price will be collected by the airline from the passenger holding the ticket. Apart from the percentage price of the ticket, the cancellation fee will also be deducted and then the refund will be initiated.
  • The passengers who are canceling their reservation 12 hours before the departure of the flight should note that 20% of the price of the ticket will be collected by the airline along with the cancellation charge and the remaining amount will be refunded.
  • The cancellation charges are determined by many factors like departure point, time of departure, type of fare and much more.
  • In case 20% of the price of the ticket is not collected by the airline then the chances are that the cancellation fee might be deducted. Whatever amounts higher may be subtracted and then the refund will be initiated.
  • Please note that the policy 24 hours is not active at Turkish Airlines like the other airlines.
  • There is no facility of refund if the cancellation is made for the reservations booked with P, F, W, V, and U fare type.
  • A TRY 200 cancellation fee is imposed on the tickets of B, S, A, H, M classes excluding the ticketing fee.
  • The TRY 200 cancellation fee is imposed on the passengers who are canceling the tickets 1 to 12 hours before the departure of the flight. This fee will not include the ticket fee but only for the passengers who are holding a Business Fly ticket.
  • The TRY 300 cancellation fee is subtracted from the refund amount if the passenger is canceling the ticket before 12 hours or beyond 12 hours of the departure of the flight. This fee will not include the ticket fee but only for the passengers who are holding a Business Fly ticket.

How to cancel the Turkish Airlines ticket? 

In case you are clear with the Turkish Airlines Cancellation Policy but are not aware of the cancellation procedure then you can follow the cancellation with the steps mentioned below. But if you have made the reservations with the help of a travel agency then you will have to get in touch with them to do the cancellation also. Follow the below-mentioned steps only if you have made the reservations on the official website of Turkish Airlines:

  • Turn on the device and make sure you have an internet connection to execute the process.
  • Now go to Google on the device and then type Lufthansa Airlines in the search bar and continue further by hitting the enter button.
  • Make a selection on the official website of Lufthansa Airlines in order to open it.
  • Once you have opened the official website make a selection of the “My Booking” or “My Trip” tab to see the booking list
  • You will be able to witness the list of bookings on the screen from which you have to make a selection on the booking that you need to cancel.
  • Now type the booking ID in the given field. (Make sure to type the booking ID)
  • Continue by entering the last name of the passenger in the given field.
  • Once you made a selection on the booking that you are willing to cancel you will have to press the Cancel tab to continue further.
  • After the process is successful the passenger will receive an email or an SMS regarding the cancellation made on the registered email ID and the registered mobile number.
  • A refund will be initiated to the same account by which the reservation was made. The refund will be credited only after the deduction Cof the cancellation fee (if any).

In my case, the maximum percentage of the ticket amount was refunded because of the global alert otherwise the aforementioned conditions would have been applied in my case as well.
